I love libraries, but...

I’ve decided I’m getting ultra-extraordinarily lazy. My research stack for my latest (non-Personal Demons) book is very small. Most of my resources are on-line. It’s so much easier to let my fingers do the walking. After all, my laptop has been absorbed into my thighs, so it’s always there, at my fingertips. Easy access. Plus, as good as my local library is, the non-fiction collections aren’t as comprehensive as they would be in a larger city, so, even if I find just the right resource on, say…the air speed velocity of a laden African Swallow, it’s unlikely that my library will have it.

So, question:

Where do you do most of your writing research?

  1. I do all my research online. The web really has anything I need on it. Plus, just the thought of a non-fiction book makes my eyes glaze over... ;)

  2. Online xD. And not just the internet, my friends are mostly not near me so I reach them on the web and ask them questions. I also like research through experience, if i can actually try something fun out to see how it feels then awesome ^_^.

  3. When I was in college writing my thesis, we had a lot of articles that we could access through the library's website, so that was actually nice that I could do that without leaving my apartment. For writing, now, I watched a lot of movies...ALOT, talked to other offers, wiki, and of course google. I do own some random books that I do reference, but I buy those and use them again and again.

  4. Online. Of course. I mean, why go to the library when the computer is already here? I guess that makes me lazy, too.

  5. Online, absolutely. Remember when people wrote research papers by using the library only? I remember doing it, but it feels impossible now. I mean, what the hell is an encyclopedia?

  6. Nice Monty Python reference :) I visit my library all the time but always for fiction.

  7. Online. So much easier and yet, the internet is so distracting too. I love doing research and can do it for hours.

  8. I loved going to the library, but now that I live in a non-English country, it's all online. I listen to English radio stations and Yahoo! Music, to keep up with music and slang, and I look up medical, technical, professional tidbits from time to time as well.

  9. How's this for extraordinarily lazy: I have a lovely stack of research books next to me as I write but instead of taking the time to flip through them I just quickly look it up online. The internet is just too awesome and addicting! Online research is like a drug! Hours will pass w/out my knowledge while I research! Lol!
